## Everything you need, right in the MacBook notch

Each one appears in the notch when it matters, then folds away when you are done.

### Every day

- **Music controls in the notch**: Artwork, a scrolling track title, play, pause and seek right in the notch, on a background tinted by the artwork. Works with Music, Spotify, Safari and YouTube in Chrome. A waveform that follows the real audio is optional.
- **Volume and brightness HUD**: A compact indicator in the notch replaces the large macOS overlay. The F14 and F15 keys of external keyboards work too. Hold Option + Shift for fine steps.
- **Focus**: See which Focus mode is on without opening Control Center.
- **Next meeting countdown**: Your next meeting with a countdown to its start. One click joins Zoom, Google Meet, Teams or Webex.
- **Today and reminders**: Today's events next to the reminders that are due or overdue. Tick them off right in the notch.
- **AirDrop files**: Files received over AirDrop show up in the notch. Open them or show them in Finder; with the experimental file tray on, you can also keep them there.
- **Weather**: Temperature, rain over the next 6 hours, sunrise and sunset. Off by default; when you turn it on, your location is rounded to about 1 km.

### Devices

- **Battery and charging**: Plug in or unplug and see the battery level at once. The notch also tells you when the battery runs low and when Low Power Mode is on.
- **Headphones and AirPods battery**: Connect your AirPods and the notch shows a turning 3D icon with the battery of each earbud. The case appears when macOS reports it, usually while the earbuds are in it.
- **External displays and Macs without a notch**: Macs without a notch and external displays get a virtual notch you can resize. Pick the display it lives on; plug in or unplug a screen and it rearranges itself.

### Make it yours

- **Monochrome or Colorful**: Keep the notch pitch black like the hardware, or pick Colorful for a rim of light running around it.
- **Swipe gestures**: Swipe with two fingers on the trackpad to open or close the notch, or to change tracks.

### Experimental

These features may stop working after a macOS update. They are off by default; turn them on in Settings → Experimental.

- **Calls and messages**: Notices for ringing FaceTime calls, missed calls and new iMessages. You answer on the macOS banner. Needs the Accessibility permission.
- **File tray**: Drop files on the notch to keep them close, click to open, then drag them out where you need them.
- **Lock Screen widgets**: Compact widgets on your Mac's Lock Screen. A macOS update may stop this feature from working.

## Why PFCove

- **Light, and measured**: On a MacBook Pro M4: about 0.01% CPU when idle, 0.07% while music plays with the notch closed and about 2% with the notch open.
- **Private by design**: No account, no tracking. Calendar, Focus and audio stay on your Mac. Artwork lookup and weather call outside services, and you can turn them off.
- **Buy once, keep it**: No subscription. A perpetual key, lifetime updates and a refund within 14 days of purchase.
- **Native Swift**: Built in Swift with AppKit and SwiftUI for macOS 15 and later. One Universal app for Apple silicon and Intel.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does it work on Macs without a notch or on external displays?

Yes. PFCove draws a virtual notch at the top edge of the screen, and you can resize it. Pick the display it shows on; when you plug in or unplug a screen, the app rearranges itself.

### Can I see my AirPods battery?

Yes. When your AirPods connect, the notch shows a turning 3D icon and the battery of each earbud. The case appears only when macOS reports it, usually while the earbuds are inside.

### Will it slow my Mac down?

No. Measured on a MacBook Pro M4: about 0.01% CPU when idle, 0.07% while music plays with the notch closed and about 2% with the notch open. The waveform that follows the real audio costs more (about 4.4%), so it is off by default.

### Do I need a subscription?

No. You pay once: the key never expires and you get every update for life, new major versions included.

### How many Macs can one key use?

One key works on 3 Macs at a time. To switch Macs, remove the old one on the Account page, then enter the key on the new Mac.

### Can I get a refund?

Yes, within 14 days of purchase, whichever way you paid. The key is revoked when the refund is made. How to ask is in the refund policy.
